Editorial Policy
How a page gets written
A topic enters our queue because readers search for it and because the evidence is substantial enough to say something useful. An editor assigns it to a staff writer with relevant training. The writer works from primary sources, not from other blogs.
How a page gets reviewed
Before publication every page is read by a licensed reviewer, a registered dietitian, pharmacist, or physician depending on the subject. The reviewer checks dosage figures against the trials cited, checks that claims match the strength of the evidence, and checks that risks are stated. The reviewer's name appears at the top of the page with the date of review.
How we handle uncertainty
When evidence is weak we say it is weak. We distinguish between what a trial measured and what people hope a supplement will do. Where trials disagree we report the disagreement rather than picking a side.
Updates
Pages carry a publication date and a last reviewed date. A substantive change to a conclusion bumps the reviewed date. A copy edit does not. Substantive corrections are logged publicly on our corrections page.
Independence
Our reviewers are paid for their time and are not paid to reach a conclusion. Nobody who manufactures or sells a supplement reviewed on Nutri Mosaic sees a page before it is published. How we make money is described on our affiliate disclosure page.
